Events in Houston this March
Whether you’ve lived in Houston your whole life, or you’re new to this great city, there’s always something new to discover in the Bayou City. This month there are plenty of great events in Houston to enjoy. From celebrating the independence of Texas to Mardi Gras celebrations to the annual St. Patrick’s Day Festival, there’s something for everyone this spring in Houston.

The 84rd Azalea Trail heralds the beginning of Spring! Blooms of Spring will be in full swing on March 1, 2 and 3, 2019. The Trail will kick off with a ribbon cutting ceremony at the Lazy Lane entrance of Bayou Bend on Friday, March 1st at 10:30 a.m. A ticket to the Trail gives admission to 6 locations within the River Oaks neighborhood, including 4 private homes and gardens, Bayou Bend and Rienzi.

Ready to warm up after a chilly winter? The Chamber has just the event to do that as we kick off the popular Crawfish Festival, right in the heart of the Heights, at the usual site, 411 West 20th Street. The day starts with a festive parade down 20th and 19th streets with bands, drill teams, funky cars, and much more! The parade ends at the entrance to the Crawfish Festival where food and fun await!
Gates to the Festival open at 10:30. Vendor booths featuring all types of goods and services will be on-hand to show off their wares which can run from cosmetics, to energy services, to clothing and jewelry, art, plus much more. Here’s an opportunity to find that hard to shop for “special gift” for someone’s birthday.
Oh, did we forget to mention the prime food attraction – CRAWFISH? Mudbugs will be available steaming hot along with corn and potatoes. If you are not a crawfish fan, don’t worry – there will be other menu items available along with cold beer, soft drinks and water.
Texas Independence Day Celebration

“Texas Independence Day Celebration”—presented by H-E-B—is an admission free annual two-day living history celebration from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Saturday, March 2 and 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sunday, March 3 on the 293-acre Washington on the Brazos State Historic Site to commemorate when 59 delegates bravely met in 1836 to make a formal declaration of independence from Mexico and form a new nation.
After all, there is no better place to celebrate Texas independence than on the very spot “Where Texas Became Texas.”

The 2019 South Texas State Fair is the 76th such event sponsored by the Young Men's Business League, but the story of the Fair in Beaumont goes back many years before this. The Fair actually is over 100 years old.
One of the first fairs in the city was held during the first week of October 1907. There is evidence to indicate that an earlier fair was held in 1904 and perhaps others before that, but the '07 event was the start of 112 consecutive years of fairs in Beaumont.

The festival is one of the top outdoor fine arts festivals in the nation. The three-day festival showcases the works of over 300 of the finest artists in the world. The outdoor event brings out more than 20,000 people to Memorial Park offering visitors the opportunity to meet with exhibiting artists, and enjoy food and entertainment.
McDonald’s Houston Children’s Festival
When: March 30th– 31st, 2019
Where: Tranquility Park
Houston, TX
Two days of games, circus acts, rides, food, beverages, and entertainment for all ages centered in downtown Houston. The Festival excitement includes Fourteen Big Family Adventure Zones, Six stages of music and entertainment, over three hundred fun activities, as well as featured celebrities. Created 31 years ago by Child Advocates as an avenue to create awareness and funding to help the abused and neglected children of Houston.
Over 5.5 million dollars have been raised for the organization through the annual two days of children activities.
