Spring Cleaning Tips You Can Use Now

Spring is just around the corner and if you’re like most people you can’t wait to get started on the big cleanup. No matter if you live in a townhouse or a single family home, there’s cleanup to be done. The great news is, there’s no need to wait for the calendar to say it’s spring. You can start you spring cleanup now and free your weekends when the weather gets really nice.

Spring Cleaning Tips You Can Use Now

Underneath it all – Now is the time to get down on your hands and knees and clean out all those dust bunnies from under the beds, sofa and other large furniture. If you have pets or small children you may find assorted chew toys, rawhide bones and several socks in addition to the den of dust bunnies. Pick up what the vacuum can’t handle and then vacuum the rest. Do a quick wipe down with a damp cloth and your good to go.

Time to Clean the Grout – Cleaning the grout can be an awful job if you don’t do it regularly, or at least once a year. Use a solution of water and vinegar to cut through grime. If grout has become discolored try making a paste out of baking soda and water and use a toothbrush to scrub away the stain.

Carpets – Depending on the weather, now is a great time to get those carpets cleaned. It’s still not too humid down here which will help the rugs and carpets to dry faster. Choose a time when there is no rain in the forecast for at least a few days.

Buff up the Hardwood – Like carpeting, hardwood needs some regular maintenance, sometimes that includes a little buff and shine. Check out Groupon for floor sanding deals in your area, this is not a job you want to tackle on your own unless you have floor sanding experience. Leave it to the professionals, your floor will look amazing (no waves), and they’ll clean up the mess.

Clean out the Fridge – This is a job we should all do weekly but many of us don’t. Take the time now and go through your fridge and freezer and toss out anything that is past its prime. Leftovers from last week? Pitch them. Salad dressing from 2011? Time to go.

These are just some of the things you can do now to get a head start on your spring cleaning, leaving your weekends free for when spring is finally here.
