January is a wonderful time in Houston. There are plenty of outdoor activities to enjoy encluding ICE and the Polar Plunge! If jumping into water isn’t your thing, there are plenty of indoor events in Houston this January as well.

Polar Bear Plunge

When: January 1st, 2020

Slide into the new year with a chill at The Woodlands Resort Oasis.

All Community Members are invited to Jump Into 2020 at The Woodlands Resort.

Starting at 11am on January 1st, enjoy Bloody Mary's, Mimosas and cider while getting pumped up to the tunes of DJ Sian Taylor, for the new year.

Slide into the pool (or 2020) at 11:30am and experience lunch will be in Bistro while you warm up.

Galaxy Lights

When: Now through January 5th, 2020

Embark on a festive adventure and start a new Space City tradition this holiday season during our all-new experience Galaxy Lights, presented by Reliant.

Experience a high-tech kinetic light show where dozens of suspended lights move in precise choreographed sequences above the Main Plaza.

Explore and learn about the technology behind advanced LED and RGB light displays at interactive learning stations where guests can change the colors of lights decorating an artificial tree.

Catch the original film "Holidays in Space" that includes real footage of astronauts celebrating the holidays as well as interviews with retired astronauts about what it was like celebrating in space. The film is shown in Space Center Theater every 30 minutes from 6:15 p.m. to 9:45 p.m. and lasts 15 minutes.

Marvel at large, 3-D holiday décor in Zero-G Diner while enjoying hot cocoa and other holiday food and beverages available for purchase.

Introducing Prismatica, an interactive art exhibit created by RAW Design in collaboration with ATOMIC3 and produced by Quartier des Spectacles of Montreal, Canada.

From November 22nd to January 5th, observe these magical prisms brighten the holiday season with every color of the rainbow, reflecting surrounding downtown Houston by day and projecting the full spectrum of light each night.

MLK Youth Parade in Midtown Houston

Celebrating! its 26th Anniversary, the MLK Grande Parade is the third largest Parade in the U.S. behind The Rose Parade and The Macy’s Day Parade. During The Annual MLK Grande Parade, 300,000 Spectators are expected and has a Viewing Audience of more than 4,000,000. The Annual MLK Grande Parade parade consists of 15 Parade floats & 30 Marching bands.

4th Annual MLK Peace Through Pie Social

Join us to celebrate Dr. King's legacy as a peacemaker and his love of pie (Pecan was his favorite). We've partnered with Peace through PIE, a grassroots non-profit Peace Movement, and we're excited to host Houston's Pie Social. Parrot Festival

For over 10 years, we have hosted the Parrot Festival, an event dedicated to education and love of parrots. This annual conference helps support the birds of NPRPF while also offering support to various other bird organizations and owners through seminars, speakers, and vendors. It is the main fundraising event for NPRPF. Held at the end of January in Houston, TX, it is a great opportunity to connect with fellow parrot enthusiasts while still having fun! It is often called the “Home of Parrot Lovers”. Interested to learn more?
