Happy New Year! We hope you had a wonderful holiday season. If you’re looking for events in Houston this month, there are many to choose from – many surrounding the upcoming Super Bowl in February. From the Houston Super Bowl Touchdown Tour to the 23rd Annual MLK Grande Parade, there’s something for everyone this January in Houston.

Festival of Lights at Moody Gardens
When: Now through January 8th, 2017
Where: Moody Gardens Convention Center

Enjoy more than one million lights within 100 sound-enhanced animated light displays and nightly live entertainment. You can also skate around on the area’s only outdoor ice skating rink (bring your own skates or rentals available for $7), try out our Arctic  Slide.

Houston Super Bowl Touchdown Tour
When: Now through January 14th, 2017
Where: Various Houston locations

The Touchdown Tour will have a wide variety of games, many exhibits, appearances, food and fun for people of all ages. The Tour will run from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. at every stop on its tour around the city. Every stop on the Touchdown Tour is free to the public and everyone is encouraged to celebrate the city, football and Super Bowl LI with the Host Committee.

Match Family Fun Day
When: January 15th, 2017
Where: MATCH

Free and open to the public, the MATCH opens its doors to Houston families from near and far for a day of family fun. All four of its theatres, the rehearsal halls and the breezeway will be filled with performances and activities. Performances will include special appearances by Main Street Theater, Prelude Music, and Magician Robby Bennett. There will also be a bounce house, face painters, balloon artists, stilt walkers, chalk artists and more.

23rd Annual MLK Grande Parade

The MLK Grande Parade Is One Of the Largest Single Day Multicultural Events In The U.S. That Commemorate The MLK National Holiday Observance. The Parade Will Be Held On January 16, 2017 In Houston’s Midtown Originating On San Jacinto Street 7 Elgin Street Beginning @ 10A (CST).

Lunar Lantern Festival
When: January 21st – 22nd, 2017

Houston’s Discovery Green park and Avenida Houston will soon welcome over 1 million football fans as part of a 10-day Super Bowl LIVE fan festival. Super Bowl LIVE will be chock full of free concerts by some of the biggest names in music, Houston’s acclaimed food scene, NFL experience fan games, and many other attractions.

Katy Home and Garden Show

Ice at Discovery Green

The 7,716 square-foot ice skating surface, the largest in the Southwest, is kept at a frosty 22º F just for you! Come and enjoy winter-time skating under the Texas sky, with the majestic Houston skyline as the backdrop. The rink will be open daily, including holidays. Admission is $14 per person, which includes tax and skate rental.
