Galveston Mardi Gras

If you’re looking for a unique Mardi Gras experience in 2018, grab some beads and hit the beach.

Mardi Gras! Galveston, the third largest Mardi Gras celebration in the United States, offers the unique chance to experience sand between your toes and gorgeous beach sunsets while taking in the revelry and lavish parades known to dominate Galveston Island during carnival season.

The island’s 107th Mardi Gras celebration, to be held February 2-13, 2018, is expected to draw more than 350,000 attendees for 30+ concerts, 24 parades, 20 balcony parties, several elegant balls and some new festive additions.

Bank of America Women’s Leadership Series: Technology Trailblazers

More young women are now pursuing careers in technology thanks to a national focus on science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM) education, paired with the intentional recruitment of women in the industry.

Join Asia Society for Technology Trailblazers, a wide-ranging discussion with women leaders on the importance of overcoming the barriers to entering the tech industry, the business of innovation, and the software developers create.

35th Annual Houston Chinese

Our 35th annual celebrations will include an acrobatic multi Dragon Dance from one of Houston’s premier and largest dragon teams at 8:15 p.m. each evening. Their dance proceeds go towards supporting Houston local Buddhist temples. Free Chinese calligraphy, a custom New Year’s menu, customer adorned costumes, and drinks will be sure to add to the festivities. This event is open to the public with no admission charge. Dinner will be served each evening from 5:00 pm to 11:00 pm. Walk-ins are accepted, but reservations are highly recommended.

Lunar New Year Festival

Chinese Community Center will be presenting its 15th annual Lunar New Year festival. For the past 14 years, CCC ‘s LNY festival features a full day of music, dance, and martial arts performances from across the cultural spectrum, complete with an Asian bazaar that showcases the best Asian foods, arts and crafts. Our Lunar New Year festival has consistently attracted over 12,000 visitors from all over Southwest Texas area and continues to grow in popularity in our city and beyond.

Sensory Friendly Day

The Children’s Museum of Houston invites you to an exclusive event for children with Autism. Sensory Friendly Day is an opportunity for kids with Autism Spectrum Disorders (ASD) and sensory processing differences to explore the Museum. Doors will be closed to the public.  There will be no music and sound-reducing headphones will be available.
Outside food and drinks will be allowed (Fresh Café will be closed)

World Championship Bar-B-Que Contest

The World’s Championship Bar-B-Que Contest is three days of cooking, competition, eating and dancing. The sweet aroma drifts over the Houston metropolis, drawing crowds like bees to honey. Trophies are awarded to teams preparing the best dish in each category (brisket, chicken, pork and spare ribs) as well as an overall winner.

Houston Livestock Show & Rodeo

Rodeo has been a tradition in Houston since 1932, and the three-week extravaganza at NRG Park continues to consume the city every spring. The kickoff for the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo is the Rodeo Parade, after trail riders ride into town and set up camp in Memorial Park. All 20 championship rodeo competitions are concluded with entertainment by music superstars.
