Ring in the season with the 87th Annual Mayor’s Holiday Celebration and Tree Lighting Presented by Reliant, an NRG Company on Friday, December 1, 2017 in the heart of downtown Houston. The spectacular event is a holiday tradition of music, Santa, fireworks and family fun.

Zoo Lights

The Houston Zoo is transformed into a winter wonderland! TXU Energy Presents Zoo Lights celebrates its sixth year as one of Houston’s most well-loved holiday traditions. Sip hot chocolate as you stroll through the beautiful Houston Zoo grounds and take in the sights and sounds of the season – including more than two million lights! Fifteen miles of earth-friendly LED lighting illuminate our ancient oak trees and decorate the paths to light your way.

Rainbow on Ice
When: December 8th, 2017
Where: Discovery Green

Houston, TX

The annual LGBTQ celebration at Discovery Green heads to the ICE for the ultimate dance party with electrifying entertainment featuring music by DJ Joe Ross and Crawford Nationperforming as Britney Spears, Rhianna and Selena! Join us and host Derrick Shore from KPRC’s Houston Life for a party on the ICE!

Teddy Bear Check Up
When: December 9th, 2017

The holidays are here, and that means it’s time for Teddy Bear Check-Up!

Join us on Saturday, December 9th for breakfast and a visit by the jolly guy himself – Santa Claus!

Show your child that check-ups are fun. Bring your children and their favorite teddy bear for an annual check-up at The Health Museum where they can make sure teddy is healthy for the holidays with a proper physical examination and certificate of health. It’s a fun event for the whole family with information on healthy habits during the holidays,

Kids get hands-on experience checking their Teddy’s health while learning proper oral hygiene, how to listen to the heart with a stethoscope, keeping Teddy fit with stretches and moderate exercise and administering a band-aid for the occasional boo-boo.

9th Annual Gingerbread Build Off
When: December 9th, 2017
Where: Hermann Square
Houston, TX

Architecture Center Houston hosts the 9th Annual Gingerbread Build-Off at City Hall’s Hermann Square. Competing teams will create their masterpieces using 100% edible materials. More than 4,500 spectators are expected to attend and cheer on the teams, play in the kids’ construction zone, and see Santa.

BCO 4th Annual Reindeer Romp
When: December 10th, 2017
Where: Memorial Park

”On Dasher, on Dancer, on Prancer and Vixen! Now on Comet, on Cupid, on – “ You the get the idea. Have antlers?   Bring them, we’ll try to round up more.  We’ll make merry as we celebrate the season with a hike.

In true BCO fashion, you can also help out one of our favorite local organizations, Friends For Life by either bringing supplies such as dog & cat bedding, food, toys, paper towels or stopping by the donation jar for cash and checks (please make your check out to Friends for Life).
